Maharashtra HSRP: High-Security Number Plate for Old and New Vehicles in Maharashtra
The HSRP plates have been made compulsory for all the vehicles in Maharashtra for all types of vehicles. This comes in the wake of revised rules of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, which makes the installation of the HSRP Security plates compulsory countrywide.
The HSRP plates are the new type of number plates that are made from aluminium. These plates can be tracked and monitored very easily. This reduces the risk of theft of vehicles. Further, they are tamper-proof and, once removed, cannot be fixed again. It is compulsory for all old vehicles to register for HSRP plates. The new vehicles on the other hand which are registered after the date of April 1, 2019, are affixed with HSRP plates at the time of the purchase of the vehicle only. The installation of these plates is mandatory for both four-wheelers and two-wheelers.
